The Staff Advisory Committee consists of Rice employees who have been appointed to serve as a liaison between Rice's administration and the staff community. One of the tasks of this committee is to recommend staff appointments to various university committees.

University committees serve in an advisory capacity on issues that impact employees as a whole, and it is important that members have a well-developed understanding of staff issues as they relate to the mission of the committee on which they serve. A new list of interested candidates is compiled each year. If you have shown interest in the past and have not been asked to serve, please submit your name again.

Below is a brief summary of university committees that have staff appointments. Staff membership on each committee is limited and the recommended term of service is set at a maximum of three years.

  • Committee on Affirmative Action
  • Committee on Environmental Health and Safety
  • Committee on Faculty & Staff Benefits
  • Committee on the Library
  • Committee on Parking
  • Committee on Public Lectures
  • Rice University Athletics Committee
  • Staff Advisory Committee
  • University Council
